Small-job pricing behaves differently from project pricing, and understanding how is worth more than shopping the hourly rate.
Travel, parking, unloading, setting up and packing down happen once whether the list has two items or twelve. That is the whole economic argument for bundling, and it is why a single loose door handle is the most expensive repair in the house per unit of work done.
An obsolete cartridge or a discontinued blind bracket can cost more in finding it than in fitting it. Naming the make and model when you book, or sending a photograph, converts an exploratory visit into a productive one.
A soft baseboard, a sticking door and a stained ceiling are symptoms as often as they are jobs. Where the cause is water or movement, the honest answer is to stop and say so rather than to patch a symptom neatly and bill for it.
Some of what ends up on a handyman list is not handyman work. Anything gas, anything behind the panel, anything structural and anything that should be permitted goes to the trade that holds the license for it, and that is a different price for a good reason.
South Carolina has different license and registration categories for different scopes of work. A larger repair bill does not automatically require every credential in sequence. The owner-builder exemption has conditions for building or improving an owner-occupied residence, including personal supervision and sale or rental restrictions. It does not authorize hiring an unlicensed residential builder or specialty contractor. Confirm eligibility and required disclosures with the permitting authority.

Electrical, plumbing, gas, structural and other regulated work is assigned to appropriately credentialed trades where required; a small job is not automatically exempt.
